Please help us to pressure UNHCR into reconsidering its recommendation that states invoke the Cessation Clause for Rwandan refugees who fled between 1959 and 1998. Such action would put many at risk at a time when the fundamental, durable and positive changes required to invoke the Cessation Clause have not yet been achieved.
The cessation clauses are contained in Paragraph 6(A) (e) and (f) of the UNHCR Statute and Article 1C(5) and (6) of the 1951 Convention on Refugees.
SIGN THE PETITION HERE:
ON JUNE 30, 2013 the UN, in agreement with host countries in Africa, will institute the “Cessation Clause”. This invocation removes refugee status or makes those who were refugees seeking asylum between 1959 and 1998 “stateless people” if they will not return to Rwanda after the invocation.

For those who have fled AFTER that date, there are no clear guidelines for them to follow to stop being repatriated.

*NOTE OF APOLOGY ON FILM
Due to an editors error we have removed the interview with Prudentienne Seward from the film.
We mis-identified her first name as Deborah and implied an incorrect time line in her story, which we all regret. At her wish we have removed her from the film and hope all can blame us, not Prudentienne for the mistake.
